Avoyelles “Migration of the Flamingos” 2023!
For those in Avoyelles Parish, migration of the Flamingos will begin on September 1st. If you get one of these “Wild Birds” in your yard, there’ll be a letter accompanying it asking you to help with Avoyelles Council on Aging with Senior Meals on Wheels. If you get a flamingo, call the number on the letter and a trained technician will come and remove the bird for a donation. You can also help the bird “migrate” to your neighbors. “Gleaux for the Girls” Breast Cancer Awareness Run!
Get ready for the 6th Annual Gleaux for the Girls, the “Breast Race in Cenla,” on Saturday, October 28th at Walker Toyota. This event brings Breast Cancer awareness and education to Central Louisiana while also raising funds to expand and enhance the local treatment capabilities, rehabilitation programs, education services, support services and community outreach offered in our area. Experience the breathtaking bayous and wooded forests of Central Louisiana from a different perspective! Le Tour de Bayou is an unique cycling opportunity for people to get up and get moving as well as showcase the hidden gem that is the Kent Plantation House. Le Tour de Bayou offers a range of events to help every individual find their perfect fit. 2023 routes includes a 2 mile family fun ride/walk and bike rides of 10, 25, 40, 69, and 101 miles.

Locals  and visitors to the area are sure to see what has become our signature calling card – the BIKES! When colorful bikes begin appearing you know Le Tour de Bayou is drawing near!

Food Fun and Fellowship!
Join CHRISTUS Hospice St Francis Cabrini on Friday, October 6th for a night of , food, fun and fellowship to raise money to benefit the Hospice Promise Foundation, which assists patients and their families with the expenses that occur during care that are unrelated to, and not covered by Hospice, such as: rent, utilities, food, and more.
